Chapter Twelve: All Saints Day
It was a cold fall day that day, Sarah had ballet, and school was getting to be very hard. But Mama was always there to help them, so it was not SO bad, they managed. Rosie did not have any trouble at all doing her work, because it was so easy for her, she was in preschool. Evelyn was teaching her today. Rosie liked Mama better to teach her school, but she excepted it. She finished in about ten minutes, and she was learning about letters and numbers. And it was easy for Evelyn to teach Rosie. Well, in some cases at least, because she also had to do her school too. So all she could do was try to teach her fast. And somehow she had time to do her school, and go outside. After Sarah, Rosie, and Jack finished, they went outside together. They raked up the leaves into one huge big pile and jumped in it, making pretty leaves fall everywhere.
Evelyn saw her siblings outside having so much fun, and wished she would just finish this work, and go outside with them so much. So, she took a break and pulled on her boots, zipped up a jacket on her, went outside, and joined them. But after a little while she had to go inside to finish her school.
Soon, Mama came home and told them it was All Saints Day. They were all so excited, they have not noticed it for all this time, and finally Mama told them. And some of the children were already shouting out what they wanted to be for All Saints Day.
“All right, everyone settle down.” said Mama. And they stopped. She took Sarah, Jack, and the little ones in the attic, where they had all the dress up things. Sarah said she wanted to be Saint Therese. “I think we can do that.” Mama said, smiling at Sarah. And Rosie wanted to be Saint Francis. And soon Mama helped them all to get out what they wanted to be. And everyone was satisfied.
Samuel was Saint Patrick, Isaac was Saint Michael, and Jack was Saint Thomas.
They all tried their best to dress up just like the saints they were going to be.
They had a group in the bas mint of the church called “The homeschooling Group” and they went their every month, and All Saints day. And on All Saints day they would always have a party there. And everyone dressed up as Saints. But the adults usually-of course-did not.
It was always at 1o’clock. All the children were so excited. They all loved All Saints Day. And there would also always be a mass before. And the party would have a lot of fun games. Even sometimes a priest would be there. It was a fun thing for parents, kids, tine agers and a lot of people to do, that were either homeschooled or homeschooling.
Finally it was 1o’clock, an hour after lunch, and everyone got ready, very excited, and got into the van. It was only a little ways from their house and the church.
Before they went to the mass, prayed, and when it was done they went to the basemint of the church. They saw tons of games and food, and there was a priest! Some of the grownups and big kids helped little ones from all over the place do a project.
They saw some of their friends there, and told each other what they were, talked, and played together. It was so fun, for the children, and Mama got to see some people she knew too, and talked with them. After a little while everyone went outside of the church, and played tag and chased each other. There was a little woods at the end of the field, that they children played in.
They stayed for an hour then went home, because they had so much to do at home. But they all had a very fun time.
